Mary Magdalene

Usually associated with the Greek Μαγδαληνή (Magdalēnḗ, “woman from Magdala”), Mag-dale-ne is composed from mag, magi, which in various languages means "priest" or "priestess." Dalene or dalan means "valley," preserved from extinction in north of England by Norse infl. Akin to words for "bow" (v.), probably through the notion of a bend in the ground." Mag-dalene means therefore: a priestess adept from other lands or valleys: a white priestess.

Mary Magdalene was the priestess-spouse of Jesus of Nazareth, and is a great Gnostic initiate.

Mary Magdalene, like every other character in the scriptures, is also symbolic and has many meanings.
